Anion Ion Exchange Resin Description
Anion exchange resin refers to the ion exchange resin containing basic groups in the molecule. It is alkaline in solution and can exchange anions with hydroxyl ions. It can be divided into three types: strong alkalinity, weak alkalinity and mixture of strong and weak alkalinity.
It is used for water treatment (including hard water softening, high-pressure boiler water, non-ionic water, injection water, seawater desalination, etc.), removal of harmful anions (such as cyanide ion, thiocyanate ion, etc.), extraction of rare elements, separation of amino acids, vitamin C, tartaric acid, citric acid, etc.
The exchange capacity of anion exchange resin can be divided into three types according to its characteristics
1. Strong base anion exchange resin: it mainly contains strong reaction groups, such as - N + (CH3) 3 with tetrahedral ammonium salt functional group. In the form of hydrogen and oxygen, the hydrogen and oxygen ions in - N + (CH3) 3OH - can be released rapidly for exchange, and the strong base anion exchange resin can exchange with all anions for removal.
This kind of resin contains strong basic groups, such as quaternary ammonium group (also known as fourth order amino group) - nr3oh (R is hydrocarbon group), which can dissociate Oh - in water and become strong basic. The positive group of the resin can combine with the anion adsorption in the solution to produce anion exchange.
This kind of resin has strong dissociation and can work normally at different pH. It is regenerated with strong alkali (such as NaOH).
2. Weakly basic anion exchange resin: this kind of resin contains weakly basic groups, such as primary amino group (also known as primary amino group) - NH2, secondary amino group (secondary amino group) - NHR, or tertiary amino group (tertiary amino group) - NR2. They can dissociate Oh - in water and are weakly basic. In most cases, the resin adsorbs the whole other acid molecules in the solution. It can only work under neutral or acidic conditions (such as pH 1-9). It can be regenerated with Na2CO3 and NH4OH.
3. Adsorption of anions
The order of adsorption of inorganic acid radical by strong basic anion resin is as follows
SO42->NO3->Cl->HCO3->OH-
The general order of adsorption of anions by weakly basic anion resin is as follows:
Oh - > citrate 3 - > SO42 - > tartrate 2 - > oxalate 2 - > PO43 - > NO2 - > Cl - > acetate - > HCO3 -
